The Old Hastings Preservation Society, The Hastings Fishermen’s Museum, and volunteer group Hastings Wooden Boats are raising £5,000 to save retired fishing boat RX58 Felicity — the last wooden fishing boat to work from Hastings beach.
Even during her construction, in Rye, in 1980, she was already recognised as the last of her line, and was the star of a BBC documentary. When she ceased work recently, after more than forty years of faithful service, it was the end of an era stretching back countless centuries.
Now Felicity faces an uncertain future. If not preserved, an irreplaceable part of our maritime heritage will be lost forever.
We want to secure Felicity for display near the Fishermen’s Museum, as a proud reminder of our town’s ancient maritime tradition.
Your donation will help cover the purchase, preparation for display, and the start of a long-term maintenance programme.
Please donate to help give Felicity the future she deserves!
